Make sure that your heart’s full for you first.
If you want to have a baby because society says that’s what you should do, or pressure from the boyfriend or somebody else, think first. The most important thing is to do it from a place of real love. Make sure you’re not doing it because you think you have to.
I don’t have kids, but those around me that have have shown me that it’s so hard – and it’s not like you can return them on Royal Mail the next day. It’s important to really, really be with yourself to think ‘is this really what I want’ because there is no way to reverse once you’ve gone down that road.
If you are in your late 20s, you’re still really young, you’ve still got time ahead. And if you really, truly want to have a child, I would maybe suggest freezing eggs. You know, if that’s your thing, and if you can do it financially and if it feels right – because that takes the pressure off.
It’s a beautiful thing to have a child – but only if it’s for the right reasons. Before you begin, you need to be sure this is the case.
But in all of this, it is most important to remember that you’re enough just exactly as you are.
